Josephine Andrews is based on Gadigal land/Sydney, Australia and works across painting, drawing, collage, ceramics and textiles.

Seeking inspiration from her surroundings, memories, found imagery and art itself, Andrews’ work explores paint, colour, texture, form and perspective. The result is work that is celebratory, whimsical and vibrant and that provides the onlooker with a feeling of comfort, delight and escape.

Andrews’ art has been a finalist in the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize and is held in permanent and private collections in Australia. In the design sphere she has worked with leading interior and product designers in the United Kingdom and Australia has received accolades for her work with colour, technology and textile design.

Andrews’ originally trained and practiced as a lawyer and holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney. Concurrently she maintained her art practice and undertook postgraduate studies in art, textile design and interior design in London at Central St Martins School of Art, The Royal Drawing School, the V&A Museum and KLC School of Design, Chelsea.

Andrews’ broad inspirations can be seen to as a reflection of her varied life experience. She grew up on a sheep and cattle property in south-western New South Wales, has travelled extensively and has lived in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom (where she is a dual citizen) and Melbourne. She is a mother to three children and currently resides in Sydney/Gadigal land.
